Charles Weston "Chuck" McNamee


Charles Weston “Chuck” McNamee, 76 of Essex, died peacefully Thursday morning May 10, 2018 at the Marion General Hospital surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

He was born on October 31, 1941 at the home farm on Patterson Rd. to John W. and Martha (Patterson) McNamee, his mom survives on the farm.

Chuck was a 1959 graduate of the Richwood High School. He had formerly worked at the Marion Power Shovel, Whirlpool and B.F. Goodrich, but his main occupation throughout the years was that of a farmer.

Chuck was a State FFA Degree honoree, he kept up the generations of hog farming on the family farm that still goes on today. He showed steers, sheep and hogs at countless fairs all over the country. Chuck was known for his McNamee Show Pigs and later the Rush Creek Rabbits, helping many youth with their 4-H projects.

He also had a passion for sports, most notably fastpitch softball, he first started pitching for the former Richwood Athletic Club, then the Hunt Milling Team, he was also known as a “hired gun” pitcher for the Marion Industrial leagues. Over the years he has passed his knowledge and passion of pitching to countless girls through his pitching lessons. Chuck also enjoyed his time as a basketball referee.

Chuck was a longtime member of the Rush Creek (Essex) United Methodist Church, member of the former Essex K of P, National Swine Registry, helped form the Richwood Ringer Slingers. Chuck enjoyed trap shooting and going to farm auctions, it also can be said that he could tell a story or two. He appreciated his close ties with the local Amish community.

Chuck was very proud of his upbringing on Patterson Rd., which carries on today with the family farm still being a “Family Farm”.

Surviving along with his mother are his wife, Linda (Gray) McNamee whom he married September 10, 1961 at the Prospect Baptist Church, their sons: Scott (Lisa) McNamee and Mark McNamee both of Essex, grandchildren: Jennifer (Kyle) Jones and Grant (Jackee) McNamee
Great grandchildren: Nathan, William, Logan, Trulee and Rush
And many extended family

Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Rush Creek United Methodist Church, Pastor Josh Freshour will officiate, burial will follow in the Price Cemetery, friends may call Monday from 2-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood.
