Roy M. Penix


Roy M. Penix 70, of Richwood, died peacefully early Saturday morning May 12, 2018 at this home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 1, 1947 in Salyersville, Ky. To the late James Melvin and Iretta (Conley) Penix, he was also preceded in death by two sons: Robert Dean and Roy Melvin Penix Jr., siblings: Ed Penix, Hilda Faye Gilliam and Loretta Evans

Roy had worked at Pollack Steel, National Can, Todco and Diamond Logistics. His favorite job was trucking.
He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, hunting and the outdoors of Kentucky with his family and friends.

On December 7, 1963 at his parent’s home on Sandusky Rd. he married Rona Starr (Griffith) and she survives, also surviving is their daughter: Renetta Johnson, granddaughters: Ronatta (Marky) Campbell, Rheann (Josh) Turner, Alecia (Eric) Stottlemyer and Andrea (Dane) King
Great grandchildren: Ryelle Gibson, Robert, Ronnie, Royden, Roland and Rosie Turner, Hank Stottlemyer, Justice, Sage, Brooklyn, Xander and Axen King
Siblings: Patricia Ann (Mark) Anderson, Brooksville, Florida; Gary Lee (Robyn) Penix, Salt Lake City, Utah; Debby Jo (Carey) Hughes, Richwood; Ella Mae Davis, Richwood and Judy Kay McElroy, Richwood

The family appreciated the care Roy received from Interim and Loving Care Hospice, Senior Services, Memorial Hospital, Marion General Hospital and Memorial Gables.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday evening May 17, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, Pastor David Hudson will officiate, private family burial will take place in the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home from 5-7 pm.
