Barbara Jane VanScoy

Barbara Jane VanScoy, 80 of LaRue, peacefully passed into the welcome embrace of our Lord and Savior and His Precious son, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Awaiting her in the heavenly home are her parents, Minard Isaac and Sarah Genevieve (Parady) Evilsizer, her oldest brother, Charles Evilsizer and her youngest brother David Evilsizer, as well as her tiny great granddaughter, Sophia Jade Wilkins.

Grief is love with no place to go. Grieving Barbara's earthly life are her loving husband of nearly sixty years, Wesley Karg VanScoy of LaRue; her adoring children Bill (Sonie) VanScoy of Ridgeway, Karen Sue (Walt) Walker of Findlay, Rita (Randy) Patton of Dunkirk, her brother Jim (Mary Jane) Evilsizer of Inverness, Florida, and nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Barbara was born September 15, 1937 in Champaign County and spent her youth involved in 4-H and that led to her adult passion of leadership roles from advisor, to helping establish the 4-H Endowment Fund in Wyandot County. Bible School and Sunday School children were served for years by Barbara's teaching, cookies and crafts. The historic Palace Theater in Marion, Ohio also benefited from her generous volunteer spirit. Patriotic duties were fulfilled by years of serving as a poll worker and judge on election days in Grand Township, Marion County. As a youth, she was an active girl both with her church, and school in cheerleading and basketball. She is a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church.

Family and the outdoors gave Barbara immense happiness. Farm life, harvest, hay baling and livestock and her green thumb filled her days. Traveling across the USA with Wesley filled journals of stories, laughs, and adventures. Watching the band concerts, piano recitals, school musicals, talent shows, and choir concerts, as well as soccer, football, baseball, basketball games, track, baton twirling, and parades and State & National FFA Conventions, and art shows fulfilled her life.

Barbara's ability to share her care with others via greeting cards was widely known and served her humble reputation.

She requested a Memorial Service at the LaRue United Methodist Church on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm, Pastor Mike Raypholtz will officiate; the family will receive friends and family following the service at the church.  All memorials may be made to the LaRue United Methodist Trustee Fund 166 N. High Street P. O. Box 327 LaRue, OH 43332. Private burial will take place at the LaRue Cemetery under a big ol' shade tree.
