Robert J. Sidle


Robert J. Sidle, 100 of Richwood died peacefully Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 6, 1918 in Richwood to the late John and Nellie (Bumgarner) Sidle. On January 28, 1946 he married the former Ruby M. McDonald, and she died March 3, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth James, a granddaughter, Maggie Jones, and a son-in-law, John Rockenbaugh.

A 1939 graduate of Richwood High School, he was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. A lifelong farmer, he worked at O. M. Scott’s and later Whirlpool before retiring from B. F. Goodrich, where he worked for 25 years.

Bob was a long-time and active member of the Claibourne United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Richwood American Legion Post 40 and VFW Post 870. He was an avid fisherman. He had a good sense of humor, even ornery, and he enjoyed needling people. In his younger days, he enjoyed dancing. More than anything, Bob loved his family, and especially his grandkids.

He is survived by four daughters, Sherry (Tom) Evans, Ada; Teresa Rockenbaugh, Richwood; Nancy (Ron) Kincaid, Richwood; Loretta (Steve) Jones, Richwood; grandchildren, Travis (Tina) Evans, Wade (Sara) Evans, Brodie (Tami) Rockenbaugh, Caleb Rockenbaugh, Timothy “TJ” (Abby) Rockenbaugh, Tracie (Justin) Wills, Anderia (Satch) Kuch, Brock (Brandy) Britenstine, Bruno (Linda) Britenstine, Kara Jones, Joel (Megan) Jones; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Carter and Quinn Rockenbaugh, Conor Maxwell, Owen, Brooks, Griffin and Nolan Wills, Kierston and Skylar Kuch, Levi and Noah Britenstine, Autumn Britenstine, Channing Watson, Landon Evans, Dakota Evans, Tristian Evans, Cain Evans, Braxton Thomas, Braylyn Caldwell, Brantley Caldwell, Roman Jones; great-great-grandchildren, twins Sayla and Luka.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Dave Secor officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Richwood Area Veterans. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
