Jewell Markin


Jewell Markin, 93, of Richwood died peacefully Saturday evening September 28, 2019 at the Memorial Gables in Marysville.

She was born in Marion on June 10, 1926 to the late Martin and Thelma (Cunningham) Wilson. Jewell lived most of her life in and around Magnetic Springs and Richwood and graduated from Leesburg-Magnetic Springs High School in 1944.

After graduating, she worked at the former Incor Hotel in Magnetic Springs, then at Industrial Canvas and Ranco, Inc. in Delaware. Her faith was with the former Church of Christ in Magnetic Springs. Jewell married Ralph Markin in March 1949 and moved to Richwood in 1963. She later worked at Cosmo Plastics in Richwood from October 1973 until April of 1985.

Jewell was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 1999, as well as two sons; Ronald Eugene in 1950 and Calvin Lee in 2003, and also a sister Ruby Steck in November 2007.
Surviving are her two daughters, Patty Wilson and Kim Andrews, both of Marysville. Four grandchildren, Stacey Salmons, Barry Scheiderer, Jennifer (Shawn) Mitchell, and Courtney (Danny) Wallace.
8 great-grandchildren, Patric Blake, Crimson, Jordan, Quentin, Ian, Bailey, Emily, Corbin.
1 great-great-grandchild Landyn, and three nieces Noreen Loar, Becky Boothe, and Sandy Faulhaber.

Jewell loved all animals, but her favorites were the many cats she had through the years and her dog Tippy.
Once her children were grown, she enjoyed day trips and vacations with her husband. They also were spectators at Sandusky Speedway at the Sprint Car races. Later in life, she still enjoyed traveling back to some of her childhood homes and sharing stories about her life.
Family was very important to Jewell; she was always ready for any celebration or a simple get-together.
She lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, Pastor Brian Brooks will officiate, burial will follow at the Raymond Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to service, beginning at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home in Richwood.
