Charles H. Clark Jr.


Charles H. Clark Jr., 93 of Richwood (Claibourne), died peacefully Thursday afternoon April 16, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born September 8, 1926 in Columbus to the late Charles H. Clark Sr. and Betty (Gardula) Rice.

Charles was a 1944 graduate of the Columbus North High School. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps.

He had a successful career as a salesman for Anderson Publishing, selling legal books. He also had served as an International Union Rep for the AFL-CIO in Columbus. He was a farmer at heart, moving his family to the country to raise his prized Angus cattle. He also was known for his “chef” abilities, he loved having his family around to eat, cook, and have a legal beverage with. He had a soft spot in his heart for his German Shepard dogs.

The true center of his life was his family, he loved them all, but he got great pleasure out of being around the younger ones.

On September 10, 1949 he married Margaret (Mesi) and she died February 15, 1990, he was also preceded in death by a daughter: Christie Ann Clark Smith and a sister, Barbara Wills.

Surviving are his children: Charles H. “Chip” (Jo) Clark III of Marysville and Jeff (Alane) Clark of Richwood
grandchildren: Kevin (Brooks) Smith, Alison (Nathan) Campbell, Tony (Stacy) Clark and Melissa (Charles Jonas) Clark
step grandchildren: PJ Arnold, Amy Arnold, Pete Arnold, Belinda Smith, Kimberly Smith
great grandchildren: Jordan (Chad) Bright, Kennedy Holtzclaw, Dawson Holtzclaw, Jayden Smith, Lilliana Smith, Vallan Campbell, Sydney Clark, Aaron Clark and Mia, Michael and Maria Jonas
great great grandchildren: Mason, Hayden and Westin Bright, Aurora Bowmer.
son-in-law: Dale Smith of Florida
sister: Rose Drumm of Galena

Public graveside services (everyone is welcome) will be held Friday April 24, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center. Military Honors will be given by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1095, Delaware.

Due to the ongoing health situation, there will be only private family calling hours.
