Margaret (Fout) Jolliff Koetz


Margaret (Fout) Jolliff Koetz, of Marysville, passed away November 24, 2020 at the age of 96 at Memorial Gables in Marysville after a battle with COVID-19.

Born August 4, 1924 in Hardin County to Lanson and Alva (Brown) Fout, she was raised by her grandmother, Mary Catherine Brown after her mother passed away at the age of 30. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Harold and Norman Fout: and a sister, Marie Smith.

She married Bernard Clark Jolliff in October, 1943 and he died in 1961, leaving her widowed at the age of 36 with five children, Harley Duane (Charlene) Jolliff, Richwood; Ed (Carol) Jolliff, Marysville; Nancy (Buzz) Clark, Claibourne; Chuck (Suzie) Jolliff, Marysville; Lisa Griffith, Marysville. She married James Kenneth Koetz in September 1962 and he died November 19, 1980, they were blessed with a daughter, Terri (Danny) Walden, Chillicothe. She is also survived by a sister, Grace Lingrel, 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret worked at Marysville Bowling Lanes, Lamplighter, KFC and Burger King, and she owned and operated the Sportsman Lounge for a short time. She enjoyed playing cards and was a flawless embroiderer, and avid gardener/canner and treasured her time listening to Conway, Loretta, George and Tammy.

Public graveside services (everyone is welcome) will be Friday, November 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Mt. Victory with Pastor Joseph Rhea officiating.
