Scott A. Cox


Scott A. Cox, 74 of Richwood, died peacefully Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born April 6, 1947 in Edwight, West Virginia to the late Lee and Emma (Milam) Cox. On November 20, 1971 he married the former Debbie Lynn Burdett and she died December 30, 2006 after 35 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Ernest, Billy, George, Teddy, Gary and Johnny Cox, and three sisters, Ella Mae Lamb, Lois Belcher and Shirley Clemmons.

He worked for Rockwell International for 35 years and after that North Union Local Schools for 18 years, working in all three school buildings. He loved and supported North Union, students and staff alike.

Scotty was a master gardener and a tremendous cook. He grew tomatoes the size of dinner plates. He was the most loyal West Virginia Mountaineer fan ever. He loved Cher concerts and the movie Christmas Vacation. He was proud of his daughters, and he was the best grandpa around, spoiling his grandkids all beyond measure.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer (Dan) Michael, Richwood; Amy Feith, Richmond Hill, Georgia; grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren) Michael, Lucas Michael, Lissie Michael, Micah Rees, Magdalena Feith; and a brother, Arthur (Sheryl) Cox, Marysville.

Friends may call Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood. Graveside services will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Hopewell Cemetery with Pastor Todd Nordquist officiating.
