Nettie “Vi” Blackburn


Nettie “Vi” Blackburn, 86 of Marysville, died Tuesday January 25, 2022 at her home.

She was born February 10, 1935 in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois to the late Thomas Eugene and Nettie (McPherson) Lamb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. Blackburn, they were married May 19, 1953 and he died January 11, 2002. She was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Eugene Lamb.

Vi was a homemaker who had a love for flowers and gardening. She had belonged to the Byhalia Garden Club. She enjoyed doing crafts, flower arranging, going to yard sales and frequenting Goodwill. Her family remembers long car rides, with no destination in mind, just riding to experience nature and trying to find the next great spot.

She was a devout Christian woman. She had belonged to churches in the different places they had lived, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Wilmington, North Carolina and Byhalia.
She loved being with her family.

Surviving are her children: Doug (Jeni) Blackburn of Richwood, Cindy Blackburn of Marysville and Michelle (Adam Haycox) Sessler of Richwood
Grandchildren: Sarah (Chad) Redman, Reuben (Amanda) Blackburn, Katelyn (Abe) Lawrence, Alyssa (Drew) Thiele, Ethan (Ashley) Sessler, Tristen (Ashley) Sessler and Jacquelynne Haycox
15 great grandchildren
In-laws: Faye and Paul McFarland, John Blackburn and Justine Blackburn
Special friends: Pat and James Martin of Wilmington, North Carolina
Many extended family and friends

Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 12 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor Lloyd Markley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Byhalia Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 11 am at the funeral home in Richwood.
