Mary Kathryn Mitchell


Mary Kathryn Mitchell, 51, went to be with the Lord, Saturday February 4, 2023 at 6:07 pm and was surrounded by the care of her loving fiancé’ David Jenner, mother Susen Hardin and sister Amy Mitchell after a hard fought battle with AML Leukemia at her home in Erin, Tennessee.

Mary was born May 16, 1971 in Kenton, Ohio. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1989 and moved to Clarksville, Tennessee when she was 22 years of age, there she spent the rest of her adult life. Mary and David went to Elgin High School together and reconnected 12 years ago.  Mary had a career at the Macola software company of Marion before beginning her newspaper editor career at “The Tennessean Newspaper.”
 
Mary loved to laugh, enjoying life to its fullest.  Mary in her younger years had many interests including rock climbing, hiking, caving or any outdoor exploring.
 
She was a strong willed, determined woman who loved David, her family and her fur babies (Chica, Bear, Lincoln, Poppy, Lil bit) with all of her heart.  Mary, her sister Amy and her cousins had beautiful childhood memories of family reunions, hopscotch games, swimming in their grandparent’s creek, Ice cream at the Belly Acre Ice Cream Shop, sledding, skiing in skis made out of their grandfathers work boots and a cup of hot chocolate by the fireplace after a long day of playing in the winter snow.

Mary is survived by many loving family members including her mom, Susen Hardin, sister Amy (Julie) Mitchell, her fiancé’ David Jenner, Terry and Jo Jenner, Uncles and Aunts, Mike (Marge) Hardin, Rebecca (Jerry) Hardin, Diann (Ray) Mabrey, Dianna (Ralph) Issler, her dad, Allan (Faye) Mitchell, Brother Scott Mitchell, cousins Maggie, Jim, Amanda, Erica & Hannah.
 
Mary was proceeded in death by both sets of her grandparents, Iris & Henry Hardin, Doris & Kenneth Mitchell, Little Henry Hardin Harris, as well as many other caring family members.

Mary's family would like to thank Kelly Thompson for her special care during Mary's last days along with the Tennessee Quality Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Monday February 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Pastor Deb Berry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 pm at the funeral home in LaRue.
