Charles Ernest Colwell
Charles Ernest Colwell, 71, of Richwood, died peacefully at his home on Friday February 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
He was born April 30, 1951 in Washington Court House to the late Zeke and Mary (Knisley) Colwell, he was also preceded in death on September 21, 2010 by his wife Rita (Jordan) Colwell, they were married July 7, 1984 in Delaware.
Chuck was an army veteran. He served our country in Vietnam for 2 tours. He loved Jesus and his family above all. He enjoyed driving his car named the red rocket/command center. He loved shooting guns, music, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, fireworks, watching sports and playing video games. His most memorable attribute was his humor and kindness. Even during his sickness he maintained his sense of humor and was always thinking of others. Chuck had worked at American Showa in Sunbury for over 20 years.
He left a legacy of love for his children. He always told them that they were his greatest accomplishment in life.
Surviving are his children, Bill (Jamie) Colwell, Sean (Jessica) Colwell, Britney (Jeff) Gallant and Mary Colwell, all of Richwood
Grandchildren, Laela, Charlie and Henry Colwell. Milan and Wesley Gallant. Oliver and Archer Colwell.
Sisters, Patti Landolt, Charyl Birckelbaw and Carol Colwell all of St. Augustine, Florida.
Brothers, Tim (Paula) Colwell of St. Augustine, Florida, Tony (Tammy) Colwell of Hendersonville, NC, Tom (Dianne) Colwell of Ashville, NC and John Colwell of Hendersonville, NC
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood. Pastor Corey Carroll will officiate. Burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery, where there will be Military Honors conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095. Friends may call Friday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in Richwood.
Special thanks to Promedica Hospice for their loving care at the very end. Also, thanks to Memorial Specialty Care staff. He viewed them all as family and they made the process much easier for him.
