Nellie Mae Frank


Nellie Mae Frank, 90 of Prospect, died peacefully early Wednesday morning May 24, 2023 at the home of her daughter, with her loving family by her side.

She was born July 28, 1932 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late Hugh Sparks and Hattie Naomi (Leadingham) Sparks Mutters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James M. Frank. They were married March 7, 1950 in Greenup, Ky. and he died October 7, 2006. She was also predeceased by siblings, Emerson Sparks, Virginia Stout, William Mutters and John Mutters, In-laws, Virginia Esther Houk, Roger Hord, Guy “Sonny” Hord and Donald Hord.

Nellie adored her family. She loved going to anything her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated in. She was a long-time devoted member of the Prospect United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working with her flowers and frequently could be seen sitting on her front porch listening to the Cleveland Indians games. Nellie had worked at Hercules Mfg. in Prospect.

This past summer, Nellie turned 90. She said it was the best birthday ever because she received over 100 cards. She cherished a recent trip to Indiana to visit family, where she was able to receive communion with her family at the Restoration Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her children, Jim (Patty) Frank of Marion and Jane (Mark) Ballinger of Prospect

Great grandchildren: Maizie Frank, Warner and Quinn Hayhurst, Asher and Levi Thompson, Henry Ballinger, Jayden Combs, Wren and Foster Whaley

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held Wednesday May 31, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Prospect United Methodist Church. Pastors Gene Phelps and Mark Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood.
