Stanley Clair Carlyle


Stanley Clair Carlyle, 90 of Prospect, died peacefully Friday morning August 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 28, 1933 in Marion County to the late Warren and Princess (James) Carlyle. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Lutz, siblings, Judith Walker, Kate Browning, Joanne Clark, Edith Baker and Herbert Carlyle.

Clair had worked at the former Smith Dairy in Marion and had also worked for Nickels Bakery. But the job he cherished most was when he was able to help alongside his son, Tracy at the restaurant.
Clair was a longtime member of the Fite Memorial Baptist Church in Marion, he loved his church family. He was a very hard worker his entire life, always providing for his family. He took great pride in taking care of his yard.
Clair was his family’s hero. He was always there for them, whether it was telling stories, game nights or just creating laughter, he loved spending time with his family.

Clair will be remembered as a good, hard-working Christian man, who unconditionally loved his family and was a shining example of how to be a loving husband, father and grandfather.

On July 19, 1952 he married Norma (Landon) and she survives. Also surviving are their children, David (Jan) Carlyle, Stanley Carlyle and Tracy (Pam) Carlyle, all of Marion.

Memorial services celebrating Clair’s Life will be held Saturday August 19, 2023 at 10:30 am at the Fite Memorial Baptist Church in Marion. Clair’s son Pastor David Carlyle will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-7 pm at the church.
