James I. Dew Sr.


James I. Dew Sr., 89 of Richwood, died Thursday August 17, 2023 at the Otterbein at St. Marys SeniorLife Community in St. Marys.

He was born May 19, 1934 in Zanesville to the late Arthur F. and Mary E. (Nelson) Dew. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Guinsler, Patricia Dengler, Louise Fitzgerald and Edwin Dew.

Jim was a real estate appraiser. He had served our country in the United States Navy Reserves. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish in Marion. Jim had also belonged to the Marion Moose #889 and the Waldo American Legion Post #605.

Jim and Norma enjoyed spending winters in South Padre Island, Texas and also in Florida. They could be seen many days on their golf cart, driving around Richwood, (making sure everything was in order). He also enjoyed fishing, doing yard work and hanging out with his buddy B.J. (his Basset hound). Jim had also helped the Richwood Honor Guard with funeral details. Jim had a special spot in his heart for cars, he loved his 1965 black Ford Thunderbird.

Surviving is his devoted wife, Norma (Sidwell) Dew, they were married December 22, 1956 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Zanesville.
Also surviving are their children, Michael D. (Wendy) Dew of Richwood, James I (Christine) Dew Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Daniel L. (Lisa) Dew of Tampa, Florida and Douglas A. (Teresa) Dew of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Grandchildren, Skii Anne (Brian) Burk, Erica (Marty) Hemmelgarn, Nicole Gillenwater, Jennifer Harris, Dana Dew, Brittany (Christopher) Newkirk, Meagan Dew, Hannah Dew, Lyn Turner, Cody (Kelsey) Dew, David (Hailey) Rogers, Michelle (Mike) Evans and Dylan (Hailey) Rogers
Numerous great grandchildren and special grand puppy Bella.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday August 25, 2023 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Kevin Kavanagh will officiate. Burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where there will be prayers said at 7:00 pm, followed by Military Honors by the Richwood Area Veterans.
