Rose E. Benson


Rose E. Benson, 95 of LaRue, died late Thursday evening April 11, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Upper Sandusky.

She was born November 28, 1928 in Cleveland to the late John Patrick and Nellie C. (Burton) Daly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Michael Benson, they were married November 20, 1948 and he died August 12, 2006. Rose was also predeceased by daughters, Rose Maureen Hensel and Bridget McClure; sons, Tim and Dennis Benson; siblings, Mike and Tom Daly, Demaris Ann “Nancy” Vehorn and Mary C. Buyer; and two grandchildren, Andrew Dutton and Jamie Benson Bauman and great grandson, Michael Burch.

Rose was a dedicated homemaker. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaRue until its closing and then was a member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marion. Rose had a servant’s heart; it was her joy to serve her churches in many capacities over the years. When she was younger, she worked as a window dresser at the former Lingo’s in LaRue.

Rose’s delight was her family and her faith was her foundation.

Surviving are her children, Kathleen A. (James) Jones of LaRue, Meg Benson of LaRue, Mary Grace (Fred) Dutton of Upper Sandusky, Michael A. (Lee Ann) Benson of North Kingston, Rhode Island, Patrick E. (Kristi) Benson of LaRue and Sean Benson of LaRue, 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Anne) Daly of Granville and James (Catie) Daly of Royalton, Minnesota; sons-in-law, Keven Hensel, Prospect; Scott (Denise) McClure, Kenton; and a daughter-in-law, Lynn (John) Mowery of Forest.

In Rose’s words, “Love you dearly, pray for you Daly”.

Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10:30 am at the St. Mary Church in Marion. Fr. Seth Keller will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, where there will be a Rosary service at 7:00 pm.
