Phyllis Ann Ballinger


Phyllis Ann Ballinger, 81, of Marion died Friday, April 14, 2006.

She was born June 4, 1924 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Earl W. and Gladys (Friend) Miller.  On March 17, 1944 she married Bertice C. “Bert” Ballinger and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1969.

Phyllis and her husband Bert owned the Ballinger Funeral Homes and Ballinger Floor Covering in Richwood and West Mansfield.

Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richwood, a 50-year member of the former Mt. Carmel Chapter #42 Order of the Eastern Star, a graduate of Bellefontaine High School, a member of Kings Daughters, Claibourne Grange, the Child Conservation League, the Carpe Diem Club, the Bridge Club, the Creators Guild, was a volunteer with the MedCenter Auxiliary and attended Miami University.

She is survived by her sons Steve (Becky) Ballinger, Prospect and David Ballinger, Marion; daughter Roxane (Jeff) Miller, Beverly Hills, Michigan; nine grandchildren Greg, Kristen, Marcus – Lori, Todd – Kelli, Stacey, Aaron – Sara, and nine great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother Eileen Miller, brother Charles L. Miller and son Richard M. “Rick” Ballinger who died on January 7, 1988.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church, Richwood with Pastors Joe Rhea and Fred Cheney officiating.  Burial will follow in the York Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 PM at the Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood where an Eastern Star service will be conducted at 6:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be Philip Ballinger, Dale Miller, Joe Galluzzo, Steve Fetter, Charlie Soltis and Jim Althouse.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Arrangements are being handled by Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, assisted by the Denzer Farison Hottinger Funeral Home in Marion.
